A good option for travelers to Southeast Asia is to get an unlocked phone with a pre paid SIM card in your destination country. The SIM card is a unique feature of GSM phones, and this transferable smart card holds all the phone settings and serves as authorization for your phone to access local networks.
This card can be switched between phones, and pre paid SIM cards can be purchased in every Southeast Asian country that offers GSM cell service. It is as simple as buying a SIM pack and inserting the card into your unlocked phone. Pre paid SIM cards come with a loaded balance which is included in the package price. The balance is used up as you make calls, and the rates are included with the SIM card you purchase. It's possible to reload or "top up" this balance with scratch cards from which can be purchased at many locations.

The Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type is an unlocked phone that is lightweight and attractive. It offers solid call quality and works with pre paid SIM cards. It also offers a decent music player and camera. However, the home screen is rather cluttered and without a QWERTY keyboard typing can be a drag. The data connection is not very solid, and there's no voice dialing feature or GPS included.
This models is much like previous unlocked Nokia phones, and is likely to play better in international markets than in the US. Nokia is still producing Symbian devices like the Nokia X3-02, in spite of its transition to Windows Phone 7. The X3-02 unlocked retails for $145, but has little to differentiate it from many similar phones on the market today.

A very new GEVEY Supreme Red SIM card is now being distributed worldwide. Why? Well, mainly because this SIM card can unlock the iPhone 4 and activate GPRS/3G at the same time.
Now how can this facility be available to you? Simple, follow the steps given below:
1. Switch your phone off and then insert the SIM card along with GEVEY Pro SIM card with the help of the given SIM card tray.
2. Then switch on your phone back and wait for SIM welcome to pop up. After it shows on the mobile screen, simply 'accept'.
3. After the second step, a 'no message' will pop up on your screen. Don't panic. Wait for at least one signal bar to come on the top left corner of the screen.
4. After that dial "112" and leave it for 5 seconds.
5. Then switch on the Airplane mode and immediately switch it off. Your phone will show "SIM failure" and then "No SIM card installed".
After the above steps have been followed properly, keep switching on and off your phone till you don't see signal. In order to use 3G network, activate "data roaming" in the network menu.
